Mentorship Ponderings

As I’m nearing the end of my mentorship program at Art on 30th in San Diego, California, I’ve been reflecting on everything I’ve learned. I’ve gotten more 1x1 instruction with some wonderful and very talented mentors, which I think have helped me grow as an artist. But beyond that, I’ve learned so much about what it is to be an artist. How do I make a business out of this and earn income as an artist? Which leads me to the inevitable question, what kind of artist do I want to be? I will be pondering this question for a while.

I have dreamt of being a painter my whole life, and only recently decided to chase my dreams. Spending most of 2020 in lockdown led me to introspect and realize, there’s no time like the present! YOLO!

So, where does that leave me? I don’t know yet. I’m on a journey with no destination for the first time in my life. It’s thrilling. It’s scary. It’s the most excited I’ve ever been! I couldn’t be more proud of where I’m at in my journey, and I’m excited to share it with everyone who’s following along.
